Asian & Pasifika Representation in Leather (APRiL)
APRiL Mission Statement: Promote AANHPI representation in kink through visibility, education, and community building.
*AANHPI is used as an umbrella term as we know that there are many, many robust and diverse countries and cultures encompassed within AANHPI geographically and experientially. (This also includes Pasifika such as Polynesian, Micronesian and Melanesian cultures.)
Have you felt a lack of representation, or like you are the odd one out when engaging in BIPOC spaces? AANHPI have been somewhat underserved, and that is what APRiL seeks to remedy. Our aim is first and foremost, to provide representation in kink and leather for the Asian American & Pacific Islander/Pasifika communities. We are interested in fostering community amongst ourselves to give our unique AANHPI identities a place in kink, and even grow to where we as a community enhance the kinky spaces we occupy through our unique, intersecting identities. APRiL gives AANHPI individuals a place to explore and enhance these identities – and/or to explore and enhance other communities through respectful share and education about our community. We encourage collaboration and are excited to share space with one another.
APRiL is devoted to building and sharing community both within AANHPI itself and well as externally to the kinky world. Our goals include, nationwide, AANHPI space at kink and leather events and conferences, as well as organizational ties to individual AANHPI-focused local munches, and more!
